Programs

Core Programs
Boys & Girls Clubs offers more than sports and recreation. Our Clubs' programs build character, encourage education and career exploration, healthy living and appreciation for the arts.

Character & Leadership: Empowers youth to support their Club and community, sustain relationships, develop a positive self-image, and respect other cultures.

Education & Career: Enables youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, embrace technology and learning and explore career options.

Health & Life Skills: Encourages youth to engage in positive behaviors, nurture their well-being, set goals and live healthy and positive lives.

The Arts: Cultivates creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of various visual, performing and creative art forms.

Sports, Fitness & Recreation: Develops fitness, positive use of leisure time, stress management, social skills, teamwork and appreciation for the environment.

Food Program:Each day after-school our members get a tasty snack, free of charge. In addition to improving their energy level for some of our members who may not get enough to eat each day it is necessary.

During the summer months we partner with the Billings and Lockwood School Districts to provide members at the Bair Family and Lockwood Clubhouse with a free daily lunch.

Power Hour
Each day after-school all our members take time to work on their homework, read a book or participate in an enrichment activity. Each group of members has an assigned staff member who is there daily and understands where our members need help. The Club's Power Hour program allows more members to successfully complete their homework which is proven to improve academic performance and allows our members to spend more quality time with their families when they get home.

Youth of the Month
Each month our Clubhouse staff recognizes our Youth of the Month for their performance during the previous month. The staff selects members who serve as examples to all Club members for personal behavior, Club participation, community service and assistance to Staff. The individual Youth of the Month receive framed certificates, are recognized in front of their peers and have their picture posted in the Club.

Youth of the Year
Each spring our Teen members who are 14 - 18 can make application to be recognized of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County Youth of the Year. The local winner moves on to the Montana Youth of the Year competition for a chance to compete nationally. Youth of the Year candidates complete a comprehensive written application, participate in an interview process and prepare and deliver a short presentation. Those members selected as Youth of the Year embody the principles of the Boys & Girls Clubs and are examples of personal success the staff work for every day.
